Don't have to worry about what's going on back home, more or less.

I wouldn't be happy about erasing my own memory. It's just a kind of security measure. At least if I had to erase my memory, I'd make a way to bring it back.

Well, there's always the treason route, where we'd be forced to have our memories wiped and the team having to be separated. But that's not likely to happen here, so that's a moot point.

If, for whatever reason, I know something that any of our enemies desperately need to have, and somehow ambush and capture us, that would be the right time to erase my memory so that that sensitive information doesn't fall into their hands. That's actually pretty standard for our military.
