There's nothing wrong with over the top. [ cackle! ] Sometimes that's a good method to hide a more subtle message.

... Naturally. Sure, you could work out bits and pieces along the way, but there's always a chance that something will happen by the end that cracks your theory into tiny pieces.

That's part of it. Some is just so over the top, no one notices the small stuff. And sometimes the small stuff is what makes it over the top.

Or something at the end provides the piece that can put all the pieces together.

It's important to hook a reader that way. It gives incentive to read it again and better understand the novel-- how does the saying go? You should read a book as many times as it has pages to really understand it?

There is always a conclusion on the surface. Be it 'a witch did it' or a simplified version of the murder.

But I don't want the surface. I want the whole thing, surface, bottom, and all in between.

Isn't that the truth you'd want to be found? To be beaten by anything else would be an insult, wouldn't it?

Exceptional deduction. No matter the means, Anti-Mystery or Anti-Fantasy, if I take someone on, I expect either true victory or defeat with no pity, no mercy, nothing overlooked! If I must be driven into check, I want my opponent to do so skillfully! To turn the chessboard over a hundred-- no, a thousand times, to read my moves and know why they were made! Yes, the who and how is easy and anyone could find that with such lenient rules! 'Why dunnit' is the hardest part!

To be defeated and killed with anything less would be a shame to all my predecessors, and to my game! But don't you dare take that as me begging for loss or defeat!

I doubt you'd ever beg for defeat. The motivation is often the hardest thing to deduce, unless it's painfully obvious. And even then, sometimes that can be a distraction from the real motivation.

I won't consider it a true victory unless I can find out that whole truth, the how, and the why. For both you and the murderer.

Of course they do. [Chuckles.] Though the last god I met played a very dirty trick, so no one would realize what he was really doing so easily, but examining those tricks will help in revealing that full truth I aim to get. Even if I have to play longer than your other opponents.

[Well, him and Haibara. At least he's pretty sure Haibara doesn't.] I can't easily believe something like this. Even if it's something ridiculous, it's possible for a human to do it. Humans do a lot of ridiculous things for irrational reasons. Until I see irrefutable that it's indeed magic, I won't believe something like that so easily.

Heh, then it's probably the best I can't use the Blue. To become a killer proving someone else isn't one is definitely unacceptable.

And that's why it should never be cost anyone their life. It's never fun and games as soon as someone dies. Killing a witch and killing a human are two different things, naturally... but you still see me as Beatrice the human, don't you? I don't doubt that you'll never desire to kill me-- against your morals, right detective? --but erasing the illusion of the witch is the same as killing me. On the game board back home, at least.

Maybe a bit, but it won't be an unbearable annoyance. [After all, he's dealt with the shonen tantei.] I'll probably be more frustrated I can't encourage him when he's going in the right direction.

Killing is killing, be it a witch or a human. And yes, I still see you as Beatrice the human. I could never kill a human and I refuse to let one die while I can help them, no matter what they've done. Though a metaphorical death is far more bearable.

Well, if he ever shows up here, you might be able to give him some pointers... but that might be unfair! [ cackle! ]

Metaphorical, literal, whatever wording you choose, in the world of witches that I fight Battler in, those words mean the same thing. Witches can be torn to shreds by red and blue as much as humans can be maimed to a pulp with a machete or baseball bat... but that's not something you'll accept, so it's all useless to explain.

[ ooc; I'm just expecting Ryukishi to backhand his entire fanbase by the end of the whole series with some seriously WHAT stuff. He's been saying in interviews that there's a really dirty trick to the mysteries that hasn't been unveiled yet. /sobs
